Youth Sports Cardiac Readiness

California’s updated Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act adds CPR/AED certification and cardiac emergency response planning requirements for covered youth sports organizations beginning January 1, 2027.

River City CPR is developing practical support that connects coach training, written response planning, annual review, and real-world readiness.

Coach certification and written plan

The requirements include CPR/AED certification, renewed at least every two years, and a written cardiac emergency response plan reviewed annually with coaches and staff.

January 1, 2028

AED access and maintenance

Beginning January 1, 2028, covered organizations must provide AED access during official practices and matches and meet maintenance and testing requirements.
