AHA Course FAQ

How long is CPR certification good for?

Most AHA provider and Heartsaver course completion cards are valid for two years.

Do I receive my card the same day?

AHA eCards are issued digitally after successful course completion and processing. Timing can vary, but we keep the process as prompt as possible.

What is the difference between CPR and BLS?

CPR courses focus on core CPR and AED skills. BLS is designed for healthcare providers and includes team-based resuscitation, high-quality CPR, AED use, and adult, child, and infant scenarios.

Do healthcare workers need BLS?

Most healthcare employers require BLS Provider certification rather than a community CPR-only course. Check with your employer or program if you are not sure.

Can I renew before my card expires?

Yes. Many students renew before expiration so there is no gap in certification.
